How does the structuring of "The Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" make it worthy in a literary sense?

  1. Huh, great question, Terren. I don't think its the structure of the story that makes it worthy, I think its the author. I don't know much, (Okay, Anything XD) about Ambrose Bierce, but I guess it has something to do about the author that makes this story worthy. Other thoughts?

  2. I think that the structure of the story is worthy, per say, because it has so much room for discussion and speculation such as what we are doing here. It's not simply cut and dry, rather it has a character and personality of its own depending on who is reading it and how they see it.

    1. Yeah, I agree. Even though it is just a short story, it contains a bunch of things that are discussion worthy, kinda like the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, but more thought provoking.

    2. The structure is very unique and does allow for lots of analyzing, which probably makes it worthy in a literature sense along with the famous author. I'm assuming you mean the structure as in how the story jumps from present, to past, and back to present or the writing style in general?

    3. Yes Carli, that is the way I'm viewing it at least. I also think that the story is worthy since it is so full of colorful words and descriptions. It was obviously written by a talented author and therefore earns a higher title in a literary sense.

    4. Ok, good :) And yeah, the descriptive words also make the story intriguing.

  3. Terren - When you mention the structure of the story, what exactly does that mean? What are you talking about?
